Use the answer.cloud MCP with a Hosted Website

How developers can use Claude or Codex to update, deploy, and manage a website hosted by Answer Cloud.

This page is for developers using Claude or Codex to build and update a website hosted by Answer Cloud. The agent can work in your codebase, deploy the finished site, and check that the result is live and discoverable.

If your website is hosted somewhere else, see Use the MCP with an existing website.

What Claude or Codex can do

With the Answer Cloud MCP connected, your agent can:

You usually do not need to call these tools yourself. Tell Claude or Codex the outcome you want, and it can select the appropriate MCP tools.

A typical website update

For a normal code change, the agent can handle this workflow:

  1. Inspect the repository and identify the Answer Cloud site.
  2. Make the requested changes and run the project's checks locally.
  3. Build the static site.
  4. Show you the result or summarize the changes.
  5. Deploy after you explicitly ask it to publish or go live.
  6. Watch the deployment, resolve warnings, and verify the public pages.
  7. Test search and chat against the newly published content.

Answer Cloud hosts static output, so important page content should be present in the generated HTML rather than created only by client-side JavaScript.

Content and CMS updates

Claude or Codex can inspect your existing content collections, draft an entry, give you a private preview, and publish it after approval. It can also update collection templates when the design or content model changes.

A good request is:

Draft a documentation page for the new API, preview it, and wait for my approval before publishing.

Drafting and previewing do not make content public. Publishing, archiving, and deleting content change the live site, so state your intent clearly.

GitHub and releases

For teams that deploy from GitHub, the agent can connect a repository and add the Answer Cloud workflow. Future pushes can build and deploy automatically without a long-lived deployment secret.

Hosted sites can also use separate staging and production releases. Ask the agent to deploy to staging, verify the result, and promote that exact release when it is ready.

Custom domains, GitHub deployment, and production release promotion may depend on your Answer Cloud plan.

Chat and reporting

The agent can configure the generated chat widget, test whether site content is retrievable, review analytics, and inspect the latest answer-engine visibility report.

For larger chat-analysis projects, ask it to process transcripts in batches and save a compact result for each conversation. For example:

Analyze customer sentiment in our chats from the last 90 days. Use only customer messages, work in batches, and summarize the recurring themes.

Connect Claude or Codex

Add https://answer.cloud/mcp as a Streamable HTTP MCP server and use OAuth. On first connection, sign in and choose the Answer Cloud organization the agent may access. Do not add a custom authorization header to an OAuth connection.

Once connected, try:

List my Answer Cloud sites and tell me which one matches this repository. Do not make changes yet.
